For a team that had struggled mightily on the road to begin the season, it is a bit bizarre to think that the Stars are one win away from their seventh straight road victory. A win over Arizona tonight would also make back-to-back road trip sweeps after they went 4-0-0 across the East Coast in January.
Dallas is coming off of an intense 1-0 shootout victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night. Jake Oettinger recorded his second career shutout while Jason Robertson and Jacob Peterson found the net in the shootout to seal the win.
With the win, the Stars jumped to 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and inched closer to a playoff spot. They now sit four points out of the second wild card after Los Angeles won both of their games this weekend.
Oettinger will get the start again tonight for Dallas. The 23-year-old has stopped 80 of the last 81 shots, improving his record to 15-5-0 on the season. He has now played seven of the last eight games overall.
"It's a no-brainer," said Bowness. "And I'm not the smartest guy in the world, so that helps."
For Arizona, this season has been a struggle. Aside from their 12-33-4 record that has them just three points out of last place, they have had constant distractions regarding their future arena and city. Now, they have made a deal to play their home games at the new Arizona State facility but their play on the ice still remains abysmal.
The Stars will need to bring their best and avoid any type of trap game as they saw against Montreal last month.
Lineup Updates
As of this morning, there are NO new lineup updates. Expecting an identical lineup to Friday night in Chicago
He Said It
"For me, lately, I'm just going with the flow," Oettinger said. "Nothing is in my head, really, I'm just playing. That's when goalies are at their best. For me, it's just getting in the right frame of mind and going out and playing and having fun."
